Company profile
NordPass is the password product of the Nord family: newly developed by Nord Security in 2019, with XChaCha20-Poly1305 instead of the usual AES-256 and Argon2id to derive the key from the master password (NordPass security page, retrieved on 16 October 2026).
The architecture is zero-knowledge: the vault is encrypted and decrypted on your device, and NordPass cannot see into it. According to NordPass, the encrypted data is stored in AWS data centres in the USA and the EU. There are apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave and Opera.
The pricing model: a permanently free plan (one active session), Premium for one person, Family for six accounts, Business for teams. Consumer plans run for one or two years; monthly billing is only available for companies. All paid plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase; after the first term, the subscription renews at the standard price then in force.

Does NordPass belong to NordVPN?
Yes, both belong to Nord Security. Handy to know: NordPass is already included in the NordVPN Complete plan (as of 9 October 2026) – if you want both, compare the bundle with the individual prices (→ Provider profile: how trustworthy is NordVPN?).
Is NordPass available for free?
Yes, the free plan is permanently free and stores an unlimited number of passwords and passkeys – but only with one active session on one device, with no sharing and no file attachments. For a phone-plus-laptop life you need Premium.
How much does NordPass Premium cost?
On its website NordPass quotes “from €1.23 per month” for the 2-year plan; billing is in US dollars excluding VAT, and the exact amount is only shown in the basket (as of 16 October 2026). On 27 August 2026 TechRadar quoted $34.83 for two years and $25.35 for one year. After the first term the standard price applies.
Is there a NordPass discount code?
Yes: nordpass.com/coupon lists the code gladyoufoundthis for one extra free month on the 2-year Premium plan, and students get 10% with STUDENT10 (both verified on 16 October 2026). For companies, the code NPFALL26 gives 10% off new annual plans of five licences or more until 31 October 2026.
NordPass or 1Password?
1Password wins on usability and family features, NordPass on price and encryption – the head-to-head with Bitwarden and Proton Pass: (→ Best password managers 2026: 1Password, NordPass, Bitwarden and Proton Pass compared).
What happens if NordPass gets hacked?
Thanks to the zero-knowledge architecture, the vaults stay encrypted – NordPass itself does not hold your decryption key. No leak of user vaults is known at NordPass. What matters most is a strong master password with two-factor authentication.
Does NordPass support passkeys?
Yes, passkeys can be stored, used across devices and shared in all plans. Logging in to NordPass itself without a master password has been announced but is not yet available (as of 16 October 2026).
