The unlimited model

Holafly does not sell gigabytes but periods of time: 1 to 90 days, freely selectable. All plans for the major destinations are unlimited – no need to count or top up.

The country eSIMs for the USA, Turkey, Japan and Thailand cost the same: 3 days €11.37, 5 days €18.50, 7 days €25.50, 10 days €33.90, 15 days €46.90, 30 days €68.90 (esim.holafly.com, euro view, 14 October 2026). The Europe eSIM covering 33 countries is slightly higher on longer durations: 15 days €47.90, 30 days €70.90. Longer durations of up to 90 days are set in the order form, where the daily price keeps falling.

The longer the duration, the cheaper each day gets: for Europe from €3.64 (7 days) down to €2.36 (30 days). For long-term travellers this is the biggest lever. The United Arab Emirates have their own prices and a maximum of 20 days: (→ Best eSIM for Dubai & the UAE 2026 – and why WhatsApp calls don't work).

Holafly shows prices in euros, Swiss francs or dollars depending on your country – the amount in your basket is what counts.

Fair use explained honestly

Holafly does not name a fixed GB limit. According to its help centre and terms there is «no fixed data allowance that automatically stops usage»; with very heavy usage, however, the local network operator may throttle the speed under its fair-use policy – according to Holafly for one day at most, with full speed returning the following day.

Where that threshold lies, Holafly does not say. TechRadar reports user experiences of throttling from 3 to 5 GB per day, depending on the country and network (best-of list, 22 September 2026). For most travellers this is a non-issue; for constant streamers it is not. If you need guaranteed full speed at all times, choose a local SIM card or a GB plan with a clear limit.

New is «Always On»: once the plan expires, according to Holafly 1 GB of reserve data per month stays active free of charge as long as the eSIM remains installed – handy for the journey home or the next trip.

Hotspot: the biggest restriction

Connection sharing is capped at 1 GB per day – so 7 GB in total on a 7-day eSIM, and the shared usage counts towards it. This is stated on the product pages of the major destinations (USA, Europe, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, UAE). The help centre says «many» Holafly eSIMs allow sharing – so not all of them. Check the technical details for your destination before buying.

For brief emergencies that is enough; if you want to connect a tablet or laptop, you quickly hit the limit – which is also a frequent complaint on Trustpilot. If you regularly need a hotspot, you are better off with Airalo or Saily: (→ Airalo vs Holafly 2026: the honest comparison).

Data only – no phone number

The travel eSIMs are pure data plans with no local number, no conventional calls and no SMS. Calls go through WhatsApp, FaceTime and the like; your home number stays active alongside (dual SIM), so SMS codes for online banking still arrive.

Only the «Holafly Plans» subscription (unlimited €59.95 per month, as of 14 October 2026) comes with a number from the USA, the United Kingdom or Canada – and even that only for incoming SMS.

Support & reviews

The 24/7 chat is one of the few genuine unique selling points in the market – and it answers in several languages. According to Trustpilot, Holafly replies to 99% of negative reviews, usually within 24 hours.

Trustpilot shows 4.7 out of 5 from around 115,000 reviews (14 October 2026): 84% give five stars, 6% one. That is the best public score among the major travel eSIM providers – only Saily matches it. Praised are the setup, the connection and the support; criticised are complicated activations, dropped connections in certain countries (in recent reviews Colombia, Germany and Belgium, for instance), the tight hotspot cap and the price.

For context: Trustpilot notes on the profile that it is working with Holafly because of earlier breaches of its guidelines and is monitoring the profile. Cloudwards (16 April 2026) rates the support at 95% and the pricing at 70%. TechRadar lists Holafly in its best-of list (22 September 2026) as «best choice for unlimited», but only in 10th place out of 12 – because of the price and the throttling.

Refunds: generous before activation

As long as the eSIM has not been activated, Holafly refunds the full amount up to six months after purchase – this also applies if your device turns out to be incompatible and you have not scanned the QR code (Holafly refund policy, retrieved on 14 October 2026).

After activation Holafly reviews each case individually. For connection problems you get a full or partial refund if you contact support while still travelling – after the trip «Holafly cannot guarantee a refund». In all other cases Holafly refunds pro rata by usage, minus a $3.50 processing fee. According to Holafly, payment takes three to five working days.

By comparison: Airalo allows only 14 days, and a wrong purchase is refunded as credit only. Holafly is clearly more generous here.

Discount: 5% with the code HERMESINVEST

With the code HERMESINVEST you get 5% off all Holafly eSIMs – code last checked on 16 July 2026. Enter the code in the discount code field at checkout; the price updates before you pay.

No time-limited promotion was running on holafly.com on 14 October 2026; nothing has been announced for Black Friday 2026 (in 2025 there was a three-eSIMs-for-the-price-of-two offer from 24 November to 2 December). FAQ

Is there a Holafly discount code?

Yes. With the code HERMESINVEST you get 5% off all Holafly eSIMs – code last checked on 16 July 2026. Bigger discounts have recently only come from Holafly's own seasonal promotions – we list both on (→ Holafly discount code 2026: save 5% with HERMESINVEST).

How much does Holafly cost?

For the USA, Turkey, Japan or Thailand 7 days €25.50, 15 days €46.90, 30 days €68.90; Europe with 33 countries €25.50, €47.90 and €70.90. Durations from 1 to 90 days can be selected. As of 14 October 2026, euro view.

Is unlimited really unlimited?

There is no fixed GB limit. With very heavy usage the network operator may, according to Holafly, throttle for one day at most; users report thresholds of around 3 to 5 GB per day. Enough for most travellers – not for constant streamers.

Does the hotspot work?

Yes, but capped at 1 GB per day – and not for all destinations. Check the destination details before buying. For laptop work, Airalo or Saily with unrestricted hotspot are the better choice.

Will I get my money back?

Before activation, in full for up to six months after purchase. After activation Holafly decides case by case – for connection problems in full or in part if you get in touch while still travelling; otherwise pro rata minus a $3.50 fee.

Can I make phone calls with Holafly?

No, the travel eSIMs are pure data plans with no phone number. Calls go through WhatsApp, FaceTime and the like; your home number stays active alongside.

Our verdict
Holafly

For heavy users, streaming and long trips Holafly is the most convenient choice in 2026 – and another 5% cheaper with the code HERMESINVEST. If you want to tether a laptop or tablet or use less than 5 GB per week, Airalo or Saily are clearly cheaper.
